Elect AMY HUNLEY
For Clerk of the Cochise County Superior Court
I live in Tombstone with my husband of 24 years, Bill, who is a native of Tombstone. Bill works at The Bird Cage Theatre, a business his family has owned since 1934. We have one daughter, Rebecca. She and her husband, Eric, are both United States Air Force Veterans and they have a two-year-old daughter, Olivia. Bill and I are avid motorcyclists and enjoy riding every chance we can.
I’m running for Clerk of the Superior Court because I believe I have the experience and qualifications to make a significant difference in the office. I have worked in the legal field in Cochise County for over 26 years. My experience includes working for private attorneys, the Attorney General’s Office, and the Superior Court Clerk’s Office. For the past 18 years, I’ve managed the Office of the Cochise County Indigent Defense Coordinator (IDC), working directly with the Courts to assign court-appointed attorneys, managing attorney contracts, and administering a budget of approximately $1,000,000. I am also a recent graduate of the Certified Public Manager program through Arizona State University.
The Clerk of the Superior Court is the official record keeper for the Superior Court. The office maintains court records, issues warrants, keeps minutes of court proceedings, collects fees and fines, issues marriage licenses, and other duties set by statute. I believe the Clerk’s office should be a strong service provider not only for the public but also for the attorneys and other offices that work in the judicial system.
I will focus on providing excellent customer service and maintaining accuracy and efficiency in the office operations. I’ll ensure that staff has the training and tools to do their jobs well. I’ll work with the staff, Judges, and other judicial functions to determine what processes are working well and where improvements can be made.
