Elect AMY HUNLEY
For Clerk of the Cochise County Superior Court
I live in Tombstone with my husband of 23 years, Bill, who is a native of Tombstone. Bill works at The Bird Cage Theatre, a business his family has owned since 1934. We have one daughter, Rebecca. She and her husband, Eric, are both United States Air Force Veterans and they have a two-year-old daughter, Olivia. Bill and I are avid motorcyclists and enjoy riding every chance we can.
I’m running for Clerk of the Superior Court because I believe I have the knowledge and experience to make a significant difference in the office. I have worked in the legal field in Cochise County for 26 years. My experience includes working for private attorneys, the Attorney General’s Office, and the Superior Court Clerk’s Office. For the past 17 years, I’ve managed the Office of the Cochise County Indigent Defense Coordinator (IDC), and have been the Department Director for the last 10 years. I’m currently enrolled in the Certified Public Manager program through Arizona State University and will complete the program in April 2018.
The Clerk of the Superior Court is the official record keeper for the Superior Court. The office maintains court records, issues warrants, keeps minutes of court proceedings, collects fees and fines, issues marriage licenses, and other duties set by statute. I believe the Clerk’s office should be a strong service provider not only for the public but also for the attorneys and other offices that work in the judicial system.
After elected, I will work to improve staff retention by talking with the staff, Judges, and attorneys to find out what training is needed, what is working well now, and where improvements can be made. I’ll focus on maintaining excellent customer service and ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the office operations.
